In summary, eat fat/carbs before drinking to slow absorption of alcohol. Drink excess water to counteract the diuretic effects of ethanol (and prevent headaches).

Darker drinks have congeners that exacerbate the body’s detox processs. Carbonated drinks like beer worsen the effects of alcohol on the body.

Aspirin (an NSAID) before bed inhibits the COX enzymes, reducing prostaglandin production, which is associated with inflammation and headaches. Avoid acetominophen/Tylenol due to liver toxicity.

The morning after, ASAPscience recommends eggs for cysteine, bananas for potassium, and fruit for fructose.
